How should I unpack my painting?
If your painting is not framed, you need to handle it as if the surface is wet paint. Even though pastels are a dry medium, they can be smeared or damaged if touched. Your painting will be shipped wrapped in glassine paper for protection.
I recommend taking it to a framer immediately and letting them unwrap it. If you plan on unwrapping it yourself, carefully cut the tape holding the glassine closed. Only handle it by the edges. Do not place the painting face down on any surface.
If the painting is damaged during the unwrapping or framing process, I am happy to retouch it for a fee. Please contact me for details.
What is the best way to frame a pastel painting?
Pastels should always be matted and framed with GLASS. Do not use acrylic or plexiglass, as static will pull the pastel pigments off the paper. Matting is important because it prevents the painting from coming in contact with the glass, which could smear it.
Pastels are very UV-resistant, so they can tolerate sunlit areas. However, I always recommend hanging them behind UV glass to prevent colors from changing or fading. My favorite glass is Tru View UV70, which is also anti-glare.
Can I return a painting or a print?
All sales are final. If a painting arrives damaged, it will be repaired. If a print arrives damaged, it will be replaced.
