"Soaring" Original Painting

This piece was inspired by the feeling of immense lightness I felt after my husband was released from the hospital. He had needed open heart surgery to replace his aortic valve, and he had a stroke during the procedure. This turned into the most stressful two weeks of my life. I didn't realize the emotional weight I was carrying until the moment we were told he was ready to go home. I suddenly felt the weight come off, and the world visibly brightened.

I wanted to capture that feeling of lightness and love, and how it changes our perspective on the simplest things. This is the second in a three piece series of "Gratitude." The others are "Reaching" and "Basking."
