My abstract expressionist painting, “Reaching” was selected by Juror of Selections, Pirkko Mäkelä-Haapalinna, PSA-MP, for inclusion in the tenth biennial national exhibition, Pastels Chicago 2025. Put on by the Chicago Pastel Painters Society, this exhibit will be judged by Terry Ford, IAPS Eminent Pastelist and PSA Master Pastelist. It runs from October 31 through December 6 at The Art Center of Highland Park.
This painting was the first in my series, “Gratitude,” that I created after my husband was released from the hospital after open heart surgery, during which he had a stroke. I was inspired by the feeling of lightness that overcame my body and soul the day he was sent home.
