"Reaching" Original Painting

This piece was inspired by the way my world got brighter and seemed to almost sparkle after my husband was released from the hospital. He had needed open heart surgery to replace his aortic valve, and he had a stroke during the procedure. This turned into the most stressful two weeks of my life. I didn't realize the emotional weight I was carrying until the moment we were told he was ready to go home. I suddenly felt the weight come off, and the world visibly brightened.

I wanted to capture that feeling of lightness and love, and how it changes our perspective on the simplest things. This is the first in a three piece series of "Gratitude." The others are "Soaring" and "Basking."
